How to use the hub

This guide covers the Collectio home page, shared controls, how to meet for room play, and map making. For win conditions and title-specific rules, open How to play on that game’s card or page.

Finding a game

Type a name in the search field or press / to focus it. Use category chips to narrow by field, and sort by category, name, recent, or most played.

  • Filters: All · Favorites · Recent · Saved · Unplayed · Newly added · Multiplayer · Map making · Has record
  • Random play (G or the top button) picks only from the current filtered list.
  • Esc closes the help overlay, then search focus, then filters, step by step.
  • Links can keep your filters for bookmarks and sharing.

Favorites, recent, and continue

Toggle favorites with the star on a card. The recent strip and continue banner reopen a game you left mid-session. Today’s pick is date-based. Play streak counts only in this browser on this device.

Hub shortcuts (summary)

Common keys on the home page. The full list is also in the Help overlay.

  • / — focus search
  • G — random play
  • ? — hub help overlay
  • Esc — dismiss open UI one layer at a time

Shared controls inside a game

Buttons on the game page open shared tools. The shortcut panel lists that game’s move and action keys. Pause, save, mute, fullscreen, settings, and how-to usually stay on buttons rather than the key list.

  • How to play — rules and goals for that title (often H)
  • Settings — difficulty, timers, modes, saved maps, and similar options (often O)
  • Keys — shortcuts for this game only
  • Quick save — store progress in the browser (often U)
  • File save — download or load a progress file
  • Map save / Delete map in Settings — keep or remove a user map preset
  • Pause · mute · restart · game fullscreen — use the on-screen buttons

Autosave and backup

Hiding or closing the tab usually triggers a quick save. Hub Backup downloads favorites, settings, and records as a file; Restore reads the same format. The hub help overlay can clear all quick saves while keeping high scores and favorites.

How to meet for room play

This is not random matchmaking. You meet someone you know with a room code or invite link. On boards marked for multiplayer, choose solo, same-device two-player, or room play. Scores are not uploaded to a server; the two devices connect directly. Phones cannot pair over Bluetooth in the browser.

  • 1) Both open the same game and choose Room play.
  • 2) Match the path: same Wi‑Fi (or hotspot) when nearby, or remote LAN when not on the same network.
  • 3) One person taps Create room. A short room code appears.
  • 4) The other enters the code and joins, or uses Invite link / Invite phrase / Share (the URL includes room and link).
  • 5) After connect, settings such as timers follow the host. If rules differ, moves may be blocked until they match.
  • 6) While waiting, Close room ends the lobby. Leave mid-match is Resign (short rejoin wait). Rematch restarts in the same room.

Map making and map edit

The hub filter Map making lists games where you can build or load user maps. Cards may show a Maps badge. Maps stay in this browser; they are not uploaded to a server.

  • Details vary by title. Many games use a Map edit button or the E key to enter edit mode.
  • When finished, use Map save (or Map save in Settings). Set a map name, pick it under Saved maps, then Apply to play that map.
  • Delete map in Settings removes only the selected user map, not built-in stages.
  • Some games only store a settings preset (difficulty, map name, saved map) without a full board editor. See that game’s How to play for specifics.

Languages

Hub UI supports 13 languages (same set as POL/Lumina). Your language choice is remembered in this browser, and the About, How to, Privacy, and developer sites pages follow it. In-game strings may vary by title.

If something looks wrong

If the list is empty, clear filters or the search term first. If saves disappear, check that the browser allows storage for this site and that you are not in a private window. For room play failures, match the connection path (same Wi‑Fi vs remote), check the room code, and create/join again. If a map is missing, confirm you saved it and selected it under Saved maps. About and Privacy explain the no-account model and contact info.
